Paula Temple was born in Nuremberg, Germany and raised in Utah’s Dixie. After earning her Graduate Degree, she taught community college mathematics at Dixie State College for ten years before moving to Arizona to pursue a PhD at Arizona State University (which she has not yet completed, but the idea is still in her "bucket").
Paula spent 12 years in Arizona falling in love with the beautiful landscape and unique culture of the state (and the man of her dreams) in the process. Her career history in Arizona was spent in both the pharmaceutical industry and in higher education.
While teaching mathematics at Scottsdale Community College, Paula caught the yoga bug and immersed herself in the study and practice of yoga. She earned both her 200 and 500-hour yoga teaching certificates as well as an additional 2-year Occupational Certificate in Yoga from SCC. She feels very grateful and blessed to have studied under the tutelage of Carlyn Sikes, who is one a small number of Iyengar Certified Instructors in the US. Carlyn studied with Carolyn Belko, Manouso Manos (one of two Advanced Senior Iyengar Certificates granted worldwide by B.K.S. Iyengar) and Dean Lerner all of who have studied with B.K.S. Iyengar.
Paula taught Calculus during the day and studied yoga at night. It wasn't long before she hung up her graphing calculator and "My Math Lab" to pursue her passion for teaching yoga and future yoga instructors.
Paula moved back to St. George in 2012 to be near her family and found a whole new experience waiting for her. She is living her passion directing ZACI (Zion Academy of Certified Instruction), training yoga teachers and providing integrative yoga remedies for those suffering from physical challenges as well as those suffering from depression, anxiety and stress related illnesses. Paula also teaches yoga at Dixie State University.
In her spare time, Paula listens to many musical genres, likes to dance, enjoys a good read and is a passionate hiker. She has traversed the towering peaks of Colorado, the inspiring glaciers of Whistler, the beautiful red rocks of Sedona and Zion, and the natural wonder of the Grand Canyon…all with her very best friend (her husband) by her side. Together they enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.
